Known as bilboquet in France and Belgium, the American colonial kids called it “Cup and Ball” or Bilbo Catch (Bilbo Quet).
This sort of solitary game has been popular for centuries. It was easy to make with extremely simple rules – catch the ball in the cup.
Colonial children would play this for fun, but adults also used it to gamble – a game of skill, and chance!
Practice, practice, practice. After you can catch the ball in the cup regularly, try catching it on the end of the stick!
